For my liberal friends in Arizona and elsewhere

I received a chain e-mail about Angels. And I actually looked at it. At the very bottom was the phrase: Stuck in a Red State, but in a Blue State of Mind
People need to know that just because you live in a Red State doesn't mean your are small-minded. Most of my friends in Phoenix are quite liberal!

Signed by,

Lives in a Blue State and in a Blue State of Mind
(How much more liberal can I get living in Berkeley?)

Good for her

I just read this:
Cindy Crawford admits plastic surgery keeps her looking young. While some may not agree with the practice, at least she is being truthful unlike many celebrities. Remember the whole Susanne Sommers deal with that exercise thing? What the heck was that thing called? Thigh "something"?

Eek! Leggings are back

So I had heard rumors from my more fashion conscious friends that leggings are back in style again. And here is the article to prove its truth.
Not sure if I will wear them again. I was much skinnier and smaller when they were in style the first time.
Isn't it funny how everything comes around again? Bell bottoms, capris, Keds, gauchos, etc. And now apparently leggings.
I do have to admit they are quite comfy and you don't have to iron them.

Over the weekend

Our weekend was pretty good.
I did my boring chores Saturday morning. Then I headed to work for 4 hours. There was no one else at work, which was a little creepy. We have motion lights here--so they would turn on whenever I walked around and eventually click off. But I just played my music and worked like a busy little bee. I got a lot done--no interruptions for 4 whole hours. It was great!
Came home, took a nap, did some knitting.
Then Curt and I went out on a date. We hadn't been out just the two of us in awhile. So we had dinner at the Paragon at The Claremont hotel. We had a great dinner and drinks. Afterward we decided to hit another bar for a drink before we went home. We couldn't find a dang parking spot, so we went home. But our evening was very nice.
Sunday was a lazy day, though I did do some cleaning. Curt had to go to work for a little while.
But all in all it was a good weekend.
We have some German friends coming this weekend. So far, we have an A's game to attend Friday night and Saturday we will spend in the city. We have a one-hour Bay cruise booked. That sounds like fun--we haven't done that before.

Nothing too exciting

There is pretty much nothing to report or whine about or whatever. But I want my faithful readers to know I am still here.
Over the weekend we did go look at a house for rent--about a block away from where we live now. It was pretty cute, much more space than our current place. The attic was good size, too, for storage. It had one of those rickety ladders--so you really couldn't get furniture up there. But the hardwood floors were old and needed work and the appliances were old. At first we were gung-ho. And I was excited because it would have been perfect for the Halloween party I want to have. But we weren't picked to be the renters--which ended up being OK with us. We will find something eventually.
I just want to move before rainy season starts. Because then we start having a mold issue in our closet--and I don't want to go through that again.

Shake, Shake, Shake

So we had another earthquake this morning. It was a 2.9--but it was in Berkeley so we felt it. It woke all three of us up--cat included. He jumped out of bed. I told him he should stay in the bed during an earthquake--that is much safer.
I don't mind the little ones. I just don't want to be here when the Big One hits. No thanks.

Joey's cat bed

I knitted Joey a cat bed from a pattern I got from the "Stitch 'n' Bitch" book Leah gave me before I left Phoenix. I knitted this awhile ago, but over the weekend I finally put the two pieces together. Joey loves it. I have included three pics, if you want to see more, go here. Yes, there are more. I mean, Joey is so cute, I had to keep taking more.

Bleh

So I haven't written lately because my life has been unexciting.
I am so tired right now. Last week and this week I have been getting up early to work out before work. I am hoping the exhaustion will go away soon and I will start feeling good. But I am plugging away.
Work has still been busy. Tho. the temp is a great help. There are a few things I had started working on for the other VP and I am following through on those. But I am starting to be able to devote more of my time to the legal department--where I belong. :)
I think that is it for now.

I can crochet!!!

I took a crochet class at Michael's today. I had signed up for last Saturday, but the class was postponed because the teacher quit. I am kinda glad that happened because my new teacher was really good. She said I picked it up rather quickly.
Oh, and I was the only student.
Curt's mom, Marilyn, gave me a lesson last November. But I never practiced. And the whole way crocheting worked didn't make sense to me. But a second time around I really grasped it.
So I will be cranking out some blankets, soon. Actually I am gonna take another class with the teacher and she is going to teach me to make a blanket.

Woot-woot!

So a temp started today at work to take over the other dept. that I have been covering. Even though I had to do a lot of training with her I already feel the relief. She is really nice and eager. I am actually excited to work on some of my projects for the Legal department. Imagine that!
I got major kudos yesterday from the VP who I have been lent to.
Ugh, I am so tired right now. After work I am getting a facial. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Maya and Me!

So I actually got up about about 6 a.m. (that is early for me--even now with me being a semi-morning person) and get this ... worked out!
June there was working out at the beginning of the month. But then we were on vacation for 2 weeks, we came back and got settled into our life again. Then July started and so did my long work days. I come home exhausted from work and the last thing I want to do is work out.
And I want to be healthy and lose weight. So I decided to buck up and get up a tad bit earlier than normal and work out. This work week will ease into it with 15-20 min. yoga workouts with Maya. Then this weekend and next work week will be the cardio again.
Happy Tuesday!
