Woo-hoo!!! Employment here I come

So as of April 11 I will be a working woman again. I went to a temp agency today and got a temp gig. I will be working for a pharmaceutical company called Onyx. I will be doing admin work for them for about four months. I am very excited to get my butt off the couch and to bring in some money for a little while.
Curt and I went out tonight to celebrate my new employment. We had dinner and drinks at Triple Rock Brewery. Our new favorite place. And they have the most amazing garlic fries. YUM!

Big Night in the City ...

Thursday night I took the BART into San Francisco to meet Curt and some of his co-workers for drinks after work. We started at an Irish pub. Had drinks and fish and chips. Eventually moved to a hotel bar on the 39th floor. Had an amazing view of the city at night. It was gorgeous.
My first week here I did lots of sightseeing with my mom and stepdad. We visited: Chinatown, North Beach, Monterey, downtown Berkeley, Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf, Ikea. :)
Our furniture and all of our stuff came about a week after I got here. My mom helped me unpack the kitchen stuff into our very small kitchen. I am still trying to find places for all of our cr*p. Today we came to the realization that we are going to have to get a small storage space for all the crud that won't fit in our broom closet ... I mean apartment. Curt and I both keep too much "stuff."
Tomorrow I am taking a proofing test for a company called WestEd. If I get the job I would be proofing assessment tests for students and related materials. The job is only until the end of the year. But it pays pretty well so why not. I also sent stuff to a temp agency and they contacted me. Will probably meet with a recruiter this week.
Well, that is all the excitement I have to report.

We are in Berkeley!

Well, we made it. I am now a Californian.
Been doing a lot of sightseeing: Chinatown, Northbeach, Monterey, Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf, a ride on the cable car.
And tomorrow off to Ikea to buy some furniture--mainly a couch. Curt and I were there the other night briefly. Man, those people thought of everything. That place is huge. We will use our gift card from the nice Republic people I used to work with and one from Curt's parents as an early b-day gift for him.
This is short because we are heading to a movie. Either Sideways or Hotel Rwanda.
Later.

Last night of work before semi-retirement

Well, I am sitting at my work desk for the last shift at The Arizona Republic. My collegues and friends put on a great farewell potluck today. And I got some great gifts. Some fun stuff, like a duster, apron and pearls for my housewifery. I also got an Ikea gift card--good to a new couch for our new apartment. And a wonderful scrapbook with pics and nice notes from everyone.
After work off to George & Dragon for drinks.
Won't be online for about two weeks. But I can guarantee I will be blogging a lot--probably about nothing. But I will have to find something to do while being a housewife.
And I WILL post those birthday pics after I am settled in Berkeley. I promise!!!!
Adios Arizona!
