Shake, Rattle and Roll
Last night a little after 10 p.m. we had an earthquake. Apparently there were 2 others earlier in the day but I didn't feel them while at work. The one Curt and I felt was a 2.9. But it was the biggest one I have felt since living here. Our building really shook. But that was the extent. (You kinda hear a boom and then the building shakes. It felt like someone ran into our building in their truck. We live in a small building with 4 apartments.) Before that I was fairly sleepy and was ready for bed. After that I stayed up and watched "Sex and the City" on TBS.
There is a cool map where you can see all the earthquakes that have happened in the area in the last hour, day and week. About a minute after we felt the minor temblor it was on the map and soon after the magnitude.

i've found that satc is some of the best company when i can't get to sleep. that show's too funny to let your worries through!
i'm glad your first earthquake was rather uneventful, but i can imagine it was scary.
that wasn't our first earthquake. i have felt quite a few at home. this one was just the biggest one we have felt.
but, yup, yea for SATC. even tho. i have it all on DVD i still watch it sometimes on TBS. good times! :)
Hey!! I actually have experienced two earthquakes right here in Amarillo. You described it PERFECTLY! The boom then the rattle! But it seriously freaked me out. It was a 3.9, which is quite strong for Amarillo - but nothing for a California person. Apparently, Amarillo is situated on an ancient mountain range. Go figure...
